I started working with Jordon Parker, a local photographer, about one week ago on her brand. She needed to come up with a brand that she could use through out her college classes and then into her career. The first issue we came across was balancing the needs of her education and instructors and designing a brand that she would like enough to be able to build on through out her career.
Her instructor required her to have a “Script” font for her name, because he thinks it “Makes it look like you are signing your work.” After much discussion, and the fact that he would not budge on his thought, we came up with incooperated her “signed name” into our first take. I would think that a college professor who is a creative would have better knowledge on branding. Below is our first draft of the logo.
When we sat down and looked at the first logo, we actually finally decided on a color palette. So Orange would replace red. Next I changed the signature by adding a solid fill of white or black. This was mainly due to utilizing the logo on photographs. The white or black solid fill will show up better than the stroke when used as a watermark. Below is our final product.
